Wrestlers Who Have Been Arrested

There are a lot of wrestlers who have been arrested over the years. Some of these wrestlers may surprise you.

While I was doing research on wrestlers who have been arrested, I came across quite a few of them.  Many of them surprised me because I didn’t realize they have been arrested.  In this article, I’ll give you some of the wrestlers who have been arrested.

Rob Van Dam

On July 3, 2006, RVD was arrested.  He was speeding.  When he was pulled over by the police, they found 18 grams of marijuana and five Vicodin pills.  He ended up getting suspended from the WWE because of this incident.  Since I don’t watch ECW, RVD may be back there. If he is, hopefully he will stop using drugs  He pled guilty to the charges and was fined $140.  This is one of the arrests that surprised me.  He didn’t strike me as the type who would get arrested for something like that.  I guess you never know a person.

Sabu was arrested on the same day as RVD.  He had drug paraphernalia and nine tablets of Testolactone.  He ended up being fined $1,000.  This one didn’t surprise me.  It would explain his erratic behavior in the ring.

Iron Sheik & “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan

Iron Sheik and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan were pulled over in my hometown of New Jersey after a wrestling event.  Sheik was high on cocaine.  Duggan was under the influence of marijuana and alcohol.  Because of the scandal involved with their arrests, Iron Sheik was released from the WWE while “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan was on temporary release.  Maybe Vince McMahon liked Jim Duggan better than Iron Sheik since Jim was suspended temporarily while Iron Sheik was released.  Mysteriously, Iron Sheik came back to the Federation as Mustafa.  Unfortunately for him, that character didn’t last too long.  I remember when they were arrested.  I remember thinking how it was weird that they were arrested together since their characters hated each other.

Juventud Guerrera

Juventud was arrested in October 2000.  Juventud was spotted running around naked and screaming.  It turned out that he was on PCP at the time of his arrest.  He pled guilty to assaulting police, causing bodily harm, disorderly behavior, willful exposure and possession of ecstasy.  He was fired from WCW and had to pay almost $1,800 in fines. For him to have done the things he did to get arrested, he had to be on something.  It makes me wonder why Vince would hire someone with charges like that.  There was a reason why then WCW owner Ted Turner got rid of him.

Andre The Giant

Andre was arrested in August 1989. H was charged with assault after beating up a local cameraman.  I was surprised to find out that he was arrested too.  Another surprised was that drugs weren’t involved in this arrest.

Kurt Angle
Kurt was arrested at home on September 28, 2007. He was charged with driving under the influence.  A woman claimed he almost hit her while he left a local restaurant. When Kurt was getting arrested he refused to take a blood test.  He ended up being charged with driving under the influence, and careless driving.  He got lucky though because he was cleared of all charges.  I wonder if that had something to do with Vince getting rid of him from the WWE.

Ric Flair

Ric was arrested in December 2005.  He was arrested after a road rage incident.  He attacked a motorist.  Ric also kicked the motorist’s car.  He was charged with injury to personal property and assault and battery.  The charges were dropped when the witness failed to show up.  I think Rick might have paid the witness off to keep from going to jail.  As far as I know, this is another time when drugs weren’t involved in an arrest.

That’s all for now.  I will have more wrestlers who have been arrested in a future article.  Since there are so many who have been arrested, I wanted to give you a list of some of the wrestlers.

I don’t recognize any of the wrestlers , but that is because I don’t watch wrestling. It’s a shame they were all involved in drugs.

Great article, CA. Ya know, Duggan always looks kinda stoned, too, come to think of it. He’s a crowd favorite but still kind of wacko! I think Kerry Von Erich also had a few brushes with the law shortly before his death. I seem to remember him being arrested for having heroin or cocaine on him. And I seem to recall Vince McMahon himself being arrested a few years back when he caught with marijuana. I remember that road rage incident w/Rick Flair really well because Edge mocked him that following Monday night on Raw. It was so hilarious!

That is quite the list. It is amazing the trouble famous people get into. I think they feel as if they will not get caught, or will get out of it easy because of their money or who they are.

I’m not interested on wrestling, however, this is a good review. You’ve laid it out neatly and clearly.
