Ultimate Fighter Roy Nelson’s Victory Over Kimbo Slice

A load of crap.

If any of you watched the Ultimate Fighter last night, September 30, and witnessed the Nelson vs. Slice fight, please, don’t take any of that to heart.

I love Kimbo. Yes, he may seem in the eyes of many as a ghetto street fighter.  But in all reality, this guy is in it for the sport. He has a big heart.  If you noticed, he is one of the nicest fighters on the show.  He isn’t going around the house saying he’s the best.  He wants to learn more, he wants to listen. I think he is great. And until he figures out his ground skills a little more, I think he will make it far.

To go into the detail of the fight, we start off with Roy Nelson. Mohawked hick heavyweight from the IFL or whatever it was, weighing in at 264! Kimbo slice, big hands and great stand-up, weighing in at 230.

You also have to remember Kimbo fought street and wants to learn MMA, Roy Nelson has been in the business.  The fight started out weak.

Round 1. A few jabs landed by each. Nelson tripped up Kimbo to the ground. Both doing nothing. Round is ended.

Round 2 comes along. Same again, a few jabs landed.  Kimbo rocked Nelson for a minute, but Nelson got scared so took Kimbo down.  Here is where Nelson laid on Kimbos head with his 264 lbs of “big belly”, (in the words of Rampage Jackson), and tapped on his head a couple times until the ref called the fight.

Kimbo simply couldn’t move because of the overwhelming weight of Nelson. And Nelson had the upper hand because he was able to get small punches in.  Even Dana White after the fight was bad mouthing Nelson.  He did no damage to Kimbo, and after seeing Kimbo get right up on his knees after the fight shows everything.

The fight was won on weight advantage and luck.

I also think Kimbo doesn’t want to overdue it. He wants to explode when that bell rings, but he worries about making a mistake and screwing up his chances into the UFC. But honestly, against Nelson, it would have ended him in Round 1.

Kimbo is a great guy. Don’t judge him by this fight. He will have his chances again, and I think he will greatly succeed.

Would you fight Kimbo Slice?
