In professional wrestling tag teams could be part of the most exciting moments in wrestling. Back in the day, tag teams were together for years. These days, sadly tag teams are going to be lucky to be together for a year. Regardless, here are the men who showed the greatest team work. Here are the top twenty five tag teams in wrestling history. Let’s go with Part 1 for Numbers 25 through 21.
25) The Quebecers(Jacques Rougeau/Pierre Ouellet)

The former three time World Wrestling Federation tag team champions would like to inform you that they are not the mounties. Yet they are handsome and brave and strong. They’re not the mounties, because they don’t enforce the law…okay I’ll stop. Jacques and Pierre competed in the World Wrestling Federation for a couple of years, with their manager Johnny Polo, who you might know better as Raven. The Quebecers had epic battles with the Steiner Brothers, Bret and Owen Hart, and the Headshrinkers. Then they showed up for about a year in WCW, managed by Colonel Robert Parker, who was decked out in a French Legioneers outfit, spending time feuding with Harlem Heat and had a short lived feud with Public Enemy as well. Good times, good time. Masters of some amazing double team moves, the Quebecers showed up and competed well with some good matches.
24)The Redneck Wrecking Crew(Lance Cade/Trevor Murdoch)

Lance Cade had previously competed in WWF as the tag team partner of Mark Jindrak for a little over a year but he returned after an injury with a new tag team partner, in Trevor Murdoch, defeating The Hurricane and Rosey to win the World Tag Team Titles at Unforgiven 2005. They would sadly lose the belts shortly thereafter to Kane and the Big Show and would split up but be put right into Sunday Night Heat limbo as singles wrestlers. They reunited in late 2006, having a brief feud with DX, had matches with the likes of Cryme Tyme and the Highlanders, but would have their greatest feud against the Hardy Boyz, one of the best tag team feuds in modern day WWE, with a series of great matches, with Cade and Murdoch ending up with the World Tag Team Titles. They had a feud with Brian Kendrick and Paul London in the fall of 2007 before dropping the belts to Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes. Stuck in limbo for a bit, before Cade and Murdoch broke up, because of Cade’s disgust at Murdoch’s singing. Murdoch was future endeavored and showed up in TNA, while Cade allied with Chris Jericho. Sadly, Lance Cade died in 2010, another wrestler dying all too young, at the age of 29. Yet Cade and Murdoch had some great memorable matches and should be celebrated as a tag teamh.
23) Power and Glory(“The Mighty” Hercules and Paul “Romeo” Roma)

Roma and Hercules were in midcard limbo in 1990, but they joined forces as Power and Glory, under the management of “The Doctor of Style” Slick. They had some great matches with Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty, the Rockers and also the Hart Foundation. They bit off more than they could chew against the Legion of Doom, losing in around a minute at Wrestlemania 7. They had a great tag team finish, with the Power Plex, with Hercules hitting a superplex and Roma hitting a Superfly Splash. Paul Roma might have been the worst Horsemen ever(Mongo was better), but him and Hercules were Power and Glory and were great.
22) Harlem Heat(Booker T/Stevie Ray)

Real life brothers teamed up in the Global Wrestling Federation as the Ebony Express. Showed up in WCW in 1993. Harlem Heat was not the original idea for the team. It was a tag team of prisoners being lead to the ring by Colonel Robert Parker on a work release program to wrestle, known as the Posse. For obvious reasons, black men lead to the ring by a rich white colonel from the south in chains was not going to fly for obvious reasons, so the gimmick was scrubbed. Harlem Heat, first as Kane and Kole and later as Booker T and Stevie Ray, went to WCW, becoming ten time WCW Tag Team Champions in a short time, with battles with teams such as the Nasty Boys, the Steiner Brothers, and the Outsiders. Booker T obviously became a breakout star and the better performer in the ring but the Heat were a pretty decent brawling tag team. And they’re still coming for Hulk Hogan.
21) The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags)

The Nasty Boys are sadly overlooked as a tag team, due to the fact that they were dragged up on TNA in 2010, way past the expiration point but they competed for years as one of the biggest, baddest brawling teams. First of all they had a pretty good brawl with the Steiner Brothers at Halloween Havoc 1990 in WCW and then went to the World Wrestling Federation in 1991, becoming tag team champions, beating the Hart Foundation. Lost to LOD and kind of ambled around, before turning babyface, and having a good feud with Money Inc over the WWF Tag Team Titles, but the Nasty Boys got railroaded out of their potential Wrestlemania 9 title shot by Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake. The Nasty Boys went to WCW, having many great brawls with Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne and later Kevin Sullivan and Cactus Jack. Wrestled Harlem Heat, the Public Enemy, and the Faces of Fear, before Saggs retired temporarily in 1997. Knobbs wrestled in the hardcore division and also showed up on various Hulk Hogan related projects. It is a little known fact that Hulk Hogan received custody of Brian Knobbs in his divorce with Linda. The boys from the streets of Nastyville had some great brawls and should be recognized as a great tag team, despite their disgraceful TNA run.
We’re just getting warmed up. Join us for part 2 with Tag Teams 20 through 16.

good good
great piece!
I am already enjoying this list already. I grew up watching WWF wrestling so I am enjoying taking this stroll down memory lane. It is a shame that tag teams are not the way they used to be. I remember watching some really great tag team matches, but now wrestlers are put together to make tag team matches.
Interesting.
Aw, MegaMatt, seriously…you are making me want to cry. I miss Lance Cade!
*cries*
You forgot a few things what happened to them.
You chose some good teams.
You’re an expert in wrestling. Look forward to leaning more.
Good one !
Good one. Looking forward for the next part.
umm well written.
I like it
Wow! Reading this brings back memories of when I was a big wrestling fan as a child. I remember all of these tag teams except “The Redneck Wrecking Crew”. I also remember when Jacques Rougeau was “The Mountie”, and had those feuds with “The Big Boss Man”. Good times as a child. Thanks for sharing this. Will definitely be reading the future installments.
