It is time to take a look at TNA Turning Point 2011. We are coming off an impressive TNA Bound for Glory show and a few last several weeks of TNA Impact Wrestling having been good. Tonight’s huge main event features Bobby Roode defending the TNA Championship against AJ Styles and also Jeff Jarrett meeting Jeff Hardy one on one. Back in the Impact Zone in Orlando Florida.
TNA Turning Point 2011
Robbie E defeated Eric Young to win the TNA Television Title.
Rob Terry interferes. Robbie E wins the belt. The usual garbage involving Eric Young.
Mexican America and Sarita defeated Ink Inc and Toxine to retain the TNA Tag Team Title Belts.
Thought the match was rather passable but nothing special. Sarita pins Toxine with a belt shot after Rosita got distracted. Tag team division is really dead without the Guns. Get well soon, Chris Sabin.
Austin Aries defeated Kid Kash and Jesse Sorenson to retain the TNA X-Division Title.
A fairly decent story and action for this next match. Aries and Kash double teamed Sorenson, until Kash almost got the pin and Aries draped the foot of the challenge over the bottom rope. Then Aries snuck in and rolled up Kash for the pin. Aries managed to manipulation the circumstances to get the pin. An enjoyable enough encounter.
Rob Van Dam defeated Christopher Daniels in a no disqualification match.
Daniels is such a great heel, wrestling a technical match in a no disqualification match. Of course, this eventually breaks down. In comes the screwdriver but Van Dam avoids that with a chair, hitting the Van Daminator, before scoring the Five Star Frog Splash. Kind of a middle of the road match but not too bad.
Crimson DDQ Matt Morgan.
Yeah this match didn’t really work as well as I think that they intended. Matt Morgan is not the guy to put in there with Crimson. Both men battled to a double disqualification. Then they brawled some more after the match. The fans were not too pleased to say the least due to the finish. This feud must continue. Joy.
Mr. Anderson and Abyss defeated Scott Steiner and Bully Ray.
Passable enough tag team match I guess. Not as good as the six tag team match this past week on Impact Wrestling. Abyss pinned Scott Steiner with the Black Hole Slam. They teased something between Bully Ray and Abyss as Abyss was put through the table but he popped up.
Gail Kim defeated Velvet Sky to win the TNA Knockout’s Title.
Well I’ll be, Gail Kim actually wins the title. Good for her, I guess. Madison Rayne tripped Velvet and Gail Kim pulled out the Eat Defeat for the pin. This was really better than no other Knockout’s Match or even WWE Diva’s Match.
Eric Bischoff complains about the fact that his wife didn’t use birth control. Bully Ray comes in and they have to make up with Abyss apparently or he’ll destroy them all.
Jeff Hardy pinned Jeff Jarrett
Hardy pinned Jarrett in a really quick match with the Twist of Fate. Then Jeff Hardy pinned Jarrett again after the match was restarted. Then Jarrett attacks Jeff Hardy and tells Earl Hebner to count once again, even though the match has ended twice, and then Jeff Hardy pins Jeff Jarrett yet again with another roll up. Jeff Hardy has proved himself apparently. Bah.
Bobby Roode pinned AJ Styles to retain the TNA World Title.
This was the match of the night, not that is saying much due to the rest of the show being so underwhelming and uninspiring. AJ Styles gutted things out despite having an injured ankle and put on a pretty good performance. Then Roode rolled him up for the pin using the tights after the Styles Clash.
Why You Should Watch TNA Turning Point 2011
Not necessarily a bad Pay Per View but one of those Pay Per Views that left you kind of underwhelmed at the end. AJ Styles vs. Bobby Roode was pretty good under the circumstances but the rest was merely passable to awful.
