I have gone away from the normal titles of my blogs for a very specific reason , there is a notion floating around in Cyberspace that Jeff Hardy is Burned out and isn’t going to renew his contract when it expires. I saw this Shit coming done the pipe when they killed the Christian Story and made his Brother be the Heel in this present story. I honestly thought that it was about the fans and who could get over . Name for me who is more Over right now then Jeff Hardy. Even with this lame brother vs. brother feud that is going on right now . When you think about the crappy run up to Wrestle Mania 25 and the mediocre show they got, and the way it could have been if they had stuck to the original program and just tweaked it as they went along.
Starting back last year at the last draft, splitting the Hardy’s up was a mistake. They are still one of the best tag teams around and god knows WWE could use some name Tag teams out front. Next you still could have done the brother vs. brother thing but have the prize be the US belt and have the winner challenge Edge for the world title. Then you could have had all of these little accidents happen to Jeff and Edge and Christian make it look like it is Matt when it really is them. And it all could have culminated in a TLC match at WM25. This as opposed to the Creepy Promo’s with burnt up dog collars. And know we get Jeff is burnt out. Anybody who doesn’t believe that this all has more to do with how they buried Jeff a month after he won the belt wake up and read between the lines please . Is this stuff really PG.
On to TNA , I no that TNA has been taking a great deal of crap for it’s content and while there are many things wrong with TNA right now , the fact is that they have consistently gained in the ratings over the past few weeks and while it’s unclear if that is translating into higher buy rates for their PPV , they are clearly generating more interest in their product. And why, the short answer is that flannel plaid wearing , hardcore legend MRS Foley’s Baby Boy Mick.
Now , let me start by saying I caught “Lockdown” this past Sunday and I don’t see the long term in putting the TNA belt on Mick , one has to admit if you have been watching to see Mick ‘s mind slowly unfold into his own special brand of madness. I was surprised this past week when he came out and interviewed “Cactus Jack” , partly because I thought Vince stilled owned the name Cactus Jack, but mainly one guy interviewing himself has to be a first in the business and Foley deserves credit for even trying it. I have said this before and with the way things are unfolding on TNA with Dr Stevie and Abyss, Multiple personalities might be the way to go. Ill bet their regretting blowing off Al Snow a few weeks earlier now.
And on the subject of Tag teams , a subject that is dwindling in the WWE, Lock Down had two really good tag matches Sunday night . The Motor city Machineguns defended their new Japan JR tag belts in a three way against No limit and LAX. They wanted to keep LAX clear because they still have the feast or fired briefcases so it was MCMG retaining their belts in an interesting match. But the big one was the Philly Street fight in which 3D blew the roof of the place beating beer money for the TNA titles. Pay attention Vince , you can have meaningful tag matches on a PPV if you really want to.
When all is said and done , you can talk a whole lot of smack about your completion that doesn’t have the juice that you have . But you still got to put on the best show you can.
