“Pro Wrestling News and Notes From the Net” 12-30-08

It was reported over the weekend that Joanie Laurie ,AKA Chyna was rushed to a hospital Saturday morning after an incident involving Pills and a great deal of vodka . Her friends found her passed out in the bed room of her Burbank home with cuts all over her arms. There is speculation that she may have tried to end her life but the official story coming from some of her people is that it was an accident and that she was on some new medication that didn’t react well with Vodka. The point being there will be some attempt by some tabloid entity to lay the blame for this at the business in general and the WWE in particular. Those of us who know better know that Chyna’s demons have been with her longer then she has been in the ring.

On injury news, apparently newly crowned Diva Champ Maryse blew out her knee in a match at a house show over the weekend. I don’t think that this will affect the story line on Smack Down but it is bound to pretty much seal the deal as far as where Gail Kim will end up.

Raw is just starting now and Rey Mysterio is in the ring talking about the interference from HBK that caused him to missed his chance in the fatal four way . He called HBK out and asked him to wrestle tonight and the winner would move on. As soon as HBK accepted JBL came out and nixed the whole thing. As Rey pleaded with HBK ,Mike Knox jumped Rey and started the beat down when Cena came in for the save. I still don’t get this, if JBL is using HBK to pull something then where does Orton fit into this. I don’t see JBL vs. Cena at the rumble, and they need a little time to push Orton vs. Cena.

Randy Orton was in the back giving legacy fair warning , they all have to win or they are out of the group. First up Cody Rhodes going up against CM Punk. Regal and Layla came out for a advanced scouting for next weeks title shot with Punk. Regal distracted punk and Rhodes got back into the ring before the count of ten. When Punk went after Rhodes , Regal put Punk down with one of those knee lifts that he is known for. So Rhodes is safe and phase one has started, whatever the hell that means. Something is up tonight and there are way to many ways for this to look really stupid. This is just way to much stuff centered around to few wrestlers for something not to go wrong.

The Divas are being introduced for a battle royal to see who will face the Glamazon. This is a big no brainer , Melina has been getting the big push. Melina has looked the best . Well the final two are Mickie And Melina and when Melina kicked Mickie to the floor her and Beth got into it. Melina had Beth on the announce table when this plant in the front row who is suppose to be Beth’s number one fan, came ut of the audience and went after Melina. This just reads to much like the salker thing they did when Trish was still champ and Mickie was Breaking in. I’m sure that Santino will play some part in this story, but god only knows what.

Sim Snuka , AKA Deuce is standing in the ring when Charlie Haas came out in his latest incarnation, dressed like Sim’s father Super Fly Jimmy Snuka. Super Haas, put up a decent fight but in the end , the young Snuka past his phase one match also. I have to wonder what Charlie did to have sunk so low, he is a talented ring performer and this whole dress up thing would have worked better when Eugene was still working for the company.

Next up is an add on match that is going to have five people on each side in a tag match. Cena , Rey , Kofi Kingston , and Cryme Tyme make up one team and Kane, Mike Knox , Miz and Morrison, and Dolph Ziggler. Cena pushed Stephanie into this match and I have no idea what will happen. I am so happy that they are getting the point that having more good wrestling matches is what’s really going to help their ratings. It ended with a FU and a big splash from Rey on Knox. This is exactly why there needs to be some more Tag teams and more tag team matches on TV.

While I have a moment , its being leaked out through the web that Christian will be revealed as the one who attacked Jeff Hardy. This is a good thing to smooth over the lingering fallout from that dumb idea. I think that Christian an edge back together on Smack Down is a big plus for the show.

Just before the Manu , Matt Hardy match it was revealed in a back stage promo that Kelly Kelly’s boyfriend is Orton. When will it all end. Not only is Orton in the four way, but know he will have to deal with Kane. Well one of the legacy members went down to defeat at the hands of Matt Hardy and the twist of fate. The main event is next.

Orton is the first out standing in a corner staring out in the crowd. Then HBK, with his prayer at the top of the ramp is next. Jericho is the third one, and JBL rounds it out. Right off the bat a fatal four way is not a friggin tag match. What the hell. Orton and JBL start out on the apron and Jericho and HBK start out against each other. A fatal Four way is all four guys in the ring. This is really stupid, anybody can tag anybody in and it’s an elimination match. Jericho is poised to be the first to be eliminated when JBL tags himself in and runs right into a code breaker. Sean saves him from getting eliminated tags himself in and pops Jericho with the super kick. Jericho is eliminated by HBK.

Back from the break and JBL has Orton in a sleeper. JBL is dominating Orton from corner to corner . And then Orton turns it around and just when he is poised to strike , JBL crawls over to HBK and tags him in. Orton gets the boot under chin and is eliminated. HBK and JBL stand face to face in the ring and JBL is telling him to lay down. HBK has gotten back up twice and know he is standing in the ring waiting on the cloths line from hell. JBL knocks him down. This just isn’t working , Cena vs. JBL at the rumble, that means that Sean will be in the rumble. I just don’t see how this will lead to HBK vs. the Undertaker at Wrestle Mania 25. The really need to fix this quick before it gets worse. There’s no way JBL beats Cena, so this will somehow have to get to Smack Down to even involve the Undertaker.
