What can be said about the latest in the Battlefront DVD series, or rather, where should I start?    Never has a release been more aptly named, both in content and presentation. Gritty guerilla camera work; reminiscent of the legendary ECW fan cam releases, transports you ringside for an uncensored view of the action.  There are no quick cuts to hide wrestlers weaknesses, there no overdubbed crowd noise or sugary effects to hide behind.  These wrestlers don’t need those illusions.

The main menu contains 4 matches from the IndyGurlz  Australian Tour, featuring Nikki Roxx and Mercedes Martinez meeting the best wrestlers in Australia: Kelly Skater, Jessie McKay and Australia champion Bombshell Bo.  These featured some of the best action I’ve seen this year, whether its Nikki and Jessie showing off their technical maneuvers, Skater verbally abusing the ref or the punishment of Mercedes and Bo.   It’s a complete package with a touch of everything, the variety that 1980’s NWA cards bragged about.

Like I said it has something for everyone and the bonus materials should convince even the most skeptical of fans. First, from New Horizons Pro Wrestling, a Dating Game Match with Kelly Skater, Jessie McKay and Mercedes Martinez competing in a mixed gender tag match.  The second bonus is an IndyGurlz FlashBack showcasing Sumie Sakai vs Megumi Yabushita vs Nikki Roxx.  The most intriguing aspect of the bonus footage is the opportunity to contrast the Australian crowds from those in the north east United States, how culture affects conduct I suppose.

Battlefront 3 contains real wrestling; submissions, high flying, brawling power, comedy and an international clash of styles.  All presented with an unapologetic and honest vision.  This could become a new genre, wrestle noir.
