Now I Want to Do a Two Hour Half Marathon in The 864

Published on May 8, 2010 by Jack R Donlan

This is a review of my most recent and 15th half-marathon last week in Greer, SC, in the hilly upstate, area code 864. After three consecutive halfs where I broke two hours (in the SC lowcountry, area code 843), I did not quite make it this time with a time of 2:01. I even got beat by my brother-in-law. Why did this happen? There are no excuses. The only thing I would say to myself is run faster and train better.

“Plodders Have a Place, but Is It in a Marathon?” was an article in the New York Times last week. My answer to this insulting question is a resounding yes. I explain why.
