César Cielo

In selective American, 2009, in proof of the 50m freestyle, Cielo has done time in the final 21s14 B (could not participate in the final by not being American), obtaining the best time among all competitors, beating the record of the Americas and 3 getting to 0.20 s world record of Frederick Bousquet, getting at the time the eND best time in the history of proof on the 2nd time in his career (the first was in the final of 2008).

World Championships in Rome in 2009, took the 4×100 free Brazil to 4th place, along with Nicolas Oliveira, Guilherme Roth and Fernando Silva. In this proof, César Cielo opened with 47s09 time, getting to 0.04 s world record of Eamon Sullivan, getting the 2nd best time in the history of 100m. free. In the 100 meter freestyle, Cielo won the gold medal winning Olympic champion Alain Bernard and beating the world record with 46s91, entering the rarefied pantheon of the swimmers who achieved in their career Olympic gold, and gold in the world world records. At the end of the 50-meter freestyle, Cielo won the world record holder Frederick Bousquet and won the gold with 21s08, beating the record of the competition and South America. The Brazilian entered the history of swimming, being the second athlete to win gold in the 50 freestyle at the Olympics and the World consecutively. Only Russian Alexander Popov had achieved that mark, winning the Barcelona Olympics and the World of Rome in 1994. And finishing in the 4×100 medley, a race where the first 4 of the race beat the world record in the U.S. in Beijing in 2008, led Brazil to 4th place, along with Guido Guilherme Henrique Barbosa and Gabriel Mangabeira, very close to medals bronze and silver proof. His two gold medals in the world led Brazil to the best performance in the history of world championships in sports.

Cielo became the sixth Australian to win a world record in swimming pool long after Maria Lenk, Manuel dos Santos, José Sylvio Fiolo, Ricardo Prado, Felipe France.
