river surfing is the fun new sport developed by young entrepreneur Ryan Morstad. This sport is designed for a young or old audience that wishes to try a new thrill or just wants to get the thrill of wakeboarding  without the boat.

river surfing involves tying a rope to a bridge over a medium to fast paced river. The rope is either tied directly to the board or the rider may hold onto the rope instead. when the rider holds onto the rope this give the sensation of wakeboarding. when the rider has the board tied to the rope this gives the sensation of surfing!

From my point of view the only downside to river surfing is that there is no wake to perform tricks  off. once the wake surfer has progressed to the point where riding the river board is easy this sport loses some of its fun. what i have done since getting very good at the wakeboarding edition of river surfing is i have switched to the surfing version.

the surfing version of river surfing is much more difficult but much more exciting as well. carving back and forth is fun to learn, but very challenging. To start out on the surfing version most of the time the user has to climb down the rope to start on the board. the other way of getting on to the river board is to jump in up river and to catch the river board as you drift down current

for the wakeboarding edition of river surfing the rider cannot climb down the rope and must drift on the surf board and catch the rope and stand up. once you are up on the wakeboarding version it is very easy to stay up.

to make your river board all you need is a piece of plywood about four feet long by a foot and a half wide. drill a hole in the top middle of the board and saw the top part into a triangular tip. sand the board down to insure you don’t get slivers.

thats it the new river surfing sport is great and anyone who can swim should try it!
