When Will a Cleveland Team Win a Championship?

What are the odds that the tortured city of Cleveland will see a championship?

It’s time for the odds of a Cleveland team winning a championship. After the year the Cleveland Browns won the NFL Championship in the Pre-Super Bowl Era, there comes a question of when will the next championship arrive? It has seemed that no matter what happens and who the Cleveland teams pick up, it just is never good enough.

With the NBA having an alleged scandal assuring major market teams get in the NBA Finals to maximize ratings, it could seem like an unlikely candidate. In baseball, you have the Tribe’s owners being cheap and not wanting to invest in winning a championship and of course making poor decisions doesn’t make it better. Now in the NFL the new Cleveland Browns had one great year but still I have questions whether or not they can repeat. Maybe it’s fear they will fail if given expectations but still that’s to be expected. If you’re a sports team in Cleveland, expect pure disappointment.

Cleveland Indians

Once a team that was expected to go back and possibly win it all have become that of an embarrassment. Injuries haven’t helped this team at all but that’s not the main problem. When you have a team that has quit on the field and doesn’t look like, aside from a few players, they want to win, there are problems right there. You have ownership in Dolan whom has been a major cheapstake in the Cleveland city not willing to spend any money. Money may not buy championships but it does open the doors and makes you wonder what could have been when it comes to players on your team. It seems that a team as soon as it gets good gets dismantled in a heart beat. As long as the powers that be make poor decisions, this team has a 20% chance of winning the World Series.

Cleveland Cavs

This team has LeBron James and has been a consistent playoff team the last three seasons. Only making one trip to the finals, it’s obvious this team needs someone else to lighten the load. Remember Michael Jordan didn’t lead the Bulls to a championship by himself and neither will LeBron. The NBA is facing a scandal that will leave a black eye for years to come with games being allegedly fixed and ensuring certain match ups happen for ratings and revenue. Fact is no one wants to see the Cavs in the finals because it’s a Cleveland team and you know how Cleveland gets ridiculed at every turn. It will come down to the next few years as to the chances. I guess LeBron is the key to this and if he stays, they have a better chance, otherwise, it could be even worse. The odds of this team winning would be 30%.

Cleveland Browns

The new Browns have had two good seasons but have only made the playoffs once. For this team to improve, it’s going to have to justify the moves made by having another good season. I don’t know if I want to give them the division so fast because every time there’s hype around Cleveland, it turns into failure. Then, you hear all those “I told you so” moments that make you sick. Will Derek Anderson prove to be a great choice to keep? I sure hope so because this team hasn’t had stability in the Quarterback position. With teams like the Patriots and the Colts being the primary two teams, the odds are about 25% at this moment in time. Unless those teams fall and no one rises up to the challenge, this team is going to have a very tough time being big time players.

It’s going to be very hard to stand by a Cleveland team because every time you get close to thinking they’ll do something great, it all tends to blow up in your face. The Indians this team are a very good example and have become pathetic. Even injuries can’t be a full blown out excuse for this team at all. They are dead last and could finish that way embarrassing every single Indians fan out there to the point of wanting to wear paper bags over their heads. Cleveland Cavs aren’t expecting to go back to the finals ever again.

Right now this is just frustration to even support a Cleveland team and there seems to be no silver lining. The odds aren’t looking good for any of the Cleveland teams to get a championship. These odds were based on the sport itself and that’s about it. Cleveland’s future in the sports world on winning a championship is as dark as you can possibly get.
