On February 12, 2010 the 21st official Winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver, BC, Canada. It will be the 3rd Olympic event hosted by Canada, and the first by British Columbia after the 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics, and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.

The Torch Relay

It is the transfer of the Olympic torch from Ancient Olympia (Greece) to the stadium of the city hosting the current Olympics, in this case, BC Place Stadium.

It is said to be the longest torch relay in Winter Olympic history, as it travels across the whole width of Canada reaching Vancouver. The stadium itself is getting some upgrades, as the bathrooms, seats, and roof are getting a makeover. There will be a retracting roof after the games in 2011.
