Well here we are the Olympics are here and what an opening ceremony last night !!!
We remember the honour of having the torch carried through our small town nearby not so long ago.
Needless to say away we joined others that day in great high spirits and of course armed with a camera.
To be perfectly honest Dai had the camera and a great day was had by all.
Another memory to treasure and to be so proud of our nation ;there are so many gloomy faces around here who moan about everything; but especially at the moment on how so much money is being wasted on the Olympics !!!
This is what makes me so glad that I do not have a heart filled with bitterness and that I can also see and feel the beauty all around us .
I am truly looking forward to following as many events as I can ; and I hope you all enjoy my Rictameter poem plus the photos that Dai took.
Enjoy !!

This day
In history
The Olympics now here
A stirring so wondrously great
Our nation’s pride so safe in each heart
A pride soaring to the heavens
Golden tipped emotions
I share with all
This day.

Fantastic Eddy. Wish I’d written this myself. Wish I’d taken these stunning photos too!!!
Wasn’t the opening ceremony great? Now I’m getting stuck in to the swimming, tennis and women’s football!

Good share…Thanks!
A nice write-up, and great poem! Wonderful pictures! Thanks!
Great event. The photos are very interesting, especially the last one. What a wonderful lady.
Beatiful pictures and a good write up.
I did see the opening ceremony yesterday. It was so great!!! Well, I have been long disappointed because the Philippine team is so far not bringing pride for our country for the past 4 Olympic games already. This year, we only have eleven athletes who qualified and all the sports they are in are the sports where poor Filipino athletes won’t possible excel such as swimming… well USA and Japan are the powerhouses. We even sent athletes for archery, weight lifting, running, long jump and shooting. My God, perhaps our Sports Commission is not aware that Philippines athletes do excel in sports like rowing, boxing, billiards, and bowling. My God, I bet…it’s another medal drought for my poor country. Even a single bronze is quite illusive.
I envy those neighboring countries who are poorer that the Philippines like Indonesia and Vietnam who sent more athletes for the Olympics. Thus, it also mean that they have more chances of bringing pride and honor for their country.
I don’t think China will be the over all champion. My bet is USA!
Eddy this is a great opening ceremony .I am not fond of games but I am enjoying news about that every one here and there is enjoying.
Beautiful pics Thanks for share

Eddy, Really nice photos by Dai and a heart-warming rictameter in proud tribute to the moments of greatness which brought each and every athlete to this event.

P.S. I hope that my comment “takes” this time; the comments module was in grumpy mode on Saturday, didn’t feel like working (probably fast asleep!), and gave an error message.
I’m crossing my fingers as I “submit comment”!
