The Corruption in Sports

Are the values and wages used in sports really worth it?

How many times does one hear people talk out the outrageous wages that professional sports players receive? Almost in every pub talk, or every time something goes wrong, the talk about wages pops out. The answer the people involved in the sports world give, is that this is the world that bring people together and gives them joys, that alot of times you don’t get in the every day.

All right, that can be true, but when you look at cycling where it seems that everyone uses drugs to enhance performance. Then you change channels and see the Formula 1 races, and have to wait for weeks to know who really won the championship, because after all is not everyday that the one that gets the first place is the real winner. You try to change channels again, but you get soccer.

Then the news are about the scandals on referees, clubs loosing points because of corruption, and so on.. And again we start wondering about the wages of this guys, the values of some transfers and the ticket values? So.. Where are the joys now? After all, nowadays no one is champion just because they where first. Sports are much more complex in this days.

But we love sports, so let’s try and look at the bright side.. Let’s try and change the pub talk, and concentrate on supporting our clubs, and hope they’re not caught, but the others are, so we can win. Now that’s the sports we see today. I’ve even bought a flag from my club that says, “07/08 Champion – NOT CAUGHT YET”. Let’s hope it stays that way.

The revenue if the industry is what drives the payroll not corruption. Of course money often breeds corruption however.

But just like you get a couple cents if someone reads your post athletes get mega bucks because TV, Mulit Billion $$ sponsorships, fans throwing at the teams etc.
