Why have lawyers ,who doesn’t advise their employer in sports, that they don’t have to renegotiate a honorable contract? You see it constantly, where the veteran player get upset that the new draftees make more, by having better advisers and agents.
The veteran player or players have attorneys or agents, who seem to tell his client to stay of camp. But any great contractual expert could tell the owners, they got all the laws on their side to enforce the signed contract.
It use to be a honorable rule to stand behind your word. But, every owner is under the impression they should cater to keep the players happy and the players not trying to keep the contract they sign in good standing.
For some reason this is setting a bad atmosphere in sports. We don’t see union in the automobile field trying to renegotiate, as soon as they sign the pact with the car makers.
