Looking for that are into extreme sport that is going to get the adrenaline going?   Well, Jai-alai is one of the fastest sports in the world, and up to this point has not been promoted as a recreational sport that will get that adrenaline going.

We are setting out to change that around the country by creating a following to educate the general public what Jai-alai is.

Have you seen Jackass where they toss oranges out of the cesta, goggle it and check out the sites.  What  I have here are a few sites to give you a little insight as to what the hell Jai-alai is.

We would love to hear what you have to say!

Please make sure that you leave some comments and let us know what you think.  See you out on the court!

Recently there has been talk about an Amateur Jai-alai facility opening in the Town of Berlin, Connecticut. My question is how much would it cost to play per hour, and when is the facility going to be open?

Is Jai-alai going to be the only recreational sport in the building or are you going to offer other sports?

yes, brian , you have been hearing about it for years and i can understand the skepticism, but there will be jai alai here in connecticut by next spring. there will be an amateur court in berlin ct. the cost will be very reasonable and depends on whether or not you decide to join as a member or play as a non-member. and jai alai will be the only sport there. there will be 2 courts, a 114 ft long court for advanced players and a 60 ft court to teach new comers. i don\’t know why it was not listed above but you can visit my website at
mattsamateurjai-alai.com. it is pretty bare at the moment but will be updated as needed. you can call my number with any questions. thank you , matt

Thank you guys for coming to the site and leaving comments. Brian I know that you have been hearing this for years, but I feel that we are closer then ever to building a facility. Matt and myself dissagree on how to go about building a facility and getting the doors open.

I have decided to make this a team effort that that is one of the reasons that we have set up a board of directors to bounce ideals on the best way to go about making it a reality. The only problem is if there is not enough support that will have to come from the guys that say that want a facility.

That support is still yet to be seen and before a shevel goes in ground the project should be well thought out before any real money is spent or it might be a very expensive way to find out that the support is not there to keep the doors open.

We would love to have you come to one of our scheduled meetings that we hold once a month. Our next on will be in the next week or so, so keep that in mind.

Once again thank you for you comments and I will keep you up to date as to the progress that we are making.

    Thanks.

    Michael

This is just another example of why I have been advocating that the sport of Jai alai is what needs to be promoted. Sorry to see and hear about another Fronton closing the doors.

Just a short update on where things stand as far as the Amateur Jai alai in connecticut goes.

The Amateur Project in Windsor continues to purchase a building with the hopes of building an amateur court in the future that will have other recrational sports in the building along with Amateur Jai alai.

From what has been posted, the facility in Berlin is scheduled to open sometime in the next few weeks. That facility will only have 1 plastic ball court and will have only Jai alai.

Please feel free to post any comments or updates that you might have.

Now, that there is a court built in Berlin, CT I would like to add to our survey of how many people have been to the facilty. Over the past few months a lot of hard work has gone it to making sure that a court was built, but the work is not over.

I know that a lot of people are not aware of what Jai alai is and its not a very popular sport here in the United States, but once given a chance you fall in love with it.

So, I encourage those of you that have no ideal of what Jai alai is to google it and take a look at some of the video’s that are out there on the sport.

  15. Posted June 24, 2010 at 4:28 pm

How many of you have been to the new court in Berlin?

Here is what Channel 8 news did on the return of Amateur Jai alai here in the State of Connecticut, a dream that many thought would never happen http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/hartford_cty/Berlin-jai-alai-returns-to-connecticut

Now that goal is to expand it to other parts of New England and maybe take to the state of New York where therer is a bigger population of people that could get into playing it a recreational past time.
