Are you excited? The Commonwealth Games is next year, and it is held in India! My Country! Yippee! It has been a very long time since India has hosted any games, with the last one being in 1982, the Asian Games. It is such an honour for India to host these games! We will soon become a global power and rule the world! Muhahaha! Oh wait… the venues haven’t even been built yet…and there is only one year left! Can India make it?
My friends let me share something with you. One day, I decided to build a small shed in my back yard so I hired a very good contractor and he started his work promptly. It took eight months. I know what you must be thinking now, hey, perhaps it was your contractor which took so much time to build that structure! Well ok, fine perhaps it was the contractor but tell me, will India be able to finish building all this in 12 months?
- National Stadium (Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium)
- Swimming Complex
- Atheletes’ village
- Tennis Complex
- Boxing arena (at Talkatora)
- Highway Flyovers (For atheletes, in order to avoid the congestion in New Delhi)
These are very big structures and a small shed pales in comparison to these giant monuments so, will they be able to finish all of these by then? Now, now, I don’t have a grudge against India, its my motherland! I am just saying that there is so many things to do and so little time time. Will they be able to pull it off? Apparently, it seems that they ARE doing something about this and they have sped up their work from what it was before. Glad to hear that.
I just hope that India will be able to survive this dark period and emerge triumphant and victorious. If they manage to complete the venues before the deadline, then it would be hailed as an impossible feat. However, if they don’t they will become the laughing stock of the world. deep in my heart, I truly hope that it is the former that prevails.
