Have you ever been interested in hackysack(footbag), however never felt the courage to join into circle kicks because you were too embarrassed?
A newly popular and developing sport by the name of footbag is developing into a modern day sporting event for many in Europe, US and a large contingent here in Australia.
The sport has been receiving a lot of attention lately; number 1 in Australia and number 7 in the world, Dan Ednie, has appeared on TV shows Australia’s got talent and Saturday Disney to promote how fun the sport really is. In the next few weeks, segments will appear on Totally wild as well as Inside sports.
Being a current player of only a few months, i was a little intimidated to play in a circle kick with such talented players. However i learned that if you truly love the game, join in. The sport, although it may look complex, is actually not too difficult to pick up. Basic stalls and kicks can be learned in a few weeks and complex stuff soon after that. I can tell you this also, once you start, you are hooked.
This sport has different games and styles, such as the volleyball related game and freestyle. Anyone interested can find some starting tips should check out the site Footbag and if you want to learn of some interesting freestyle moves, type Anz tricks in the youtube site.
Also check the footbag worldwide site’s regional forums. Chances are, someone close to you will share this interest and meets regularly somewhere for practice.
I know that if you live in Melbourne and really want to have some fun, come to Federation Square near the 7-11 on Sunday’s from 1pm-4pm.
