Bill Buckner

After a batting average of .430, 22 RBI’s and 8 home runs in the September of 1986 everything was looking good for old Billy.  Everyone thought it was all over when the Red Sox were up by 2 in the bottom of the tenth inning, just one strike away from winning the World Series.  After 3 singles and a wild pitch the tension began to build.  It looked like the bleeding would end after a easy hit ball to first but it went ender Buckner’s glove to allow the game winning run and cost the red socks there series.

Jean Van de Velde

After playing a nearly error free game for 71 holes in the 1999 Open championship; one of gold most prestigious tournaments it looked like Velde was a sure thing to win it.  He lined up on the 18th home and sliced it so hard he was lucky to even find his ball.  Instead of doing what they recommend; laying it up he decided to go for the green but instead ended up hitting the grandstand before bouncing into the rough.  On the next shot he miss hit his ball and it flew into the water.  After taking a penalty stroke and a drop it hit the ball straight into the bunker.  From there he made it close to the hole and made his putt for triple bogey causing a playoff that he lost.

Scott Norwood

After enduring a long season and making it to the ultimate stage the Buffalo Bills were desperate for a win in super bowl XXV.   The game was close and they were driving with just a minute left on the clock.  They drove it all the way down the Giants 29 yard line and were forced to put there Super Bowl hopes on Scott Norwood.   He however kicked it 5 feet to the right and all but handed the giants there trophy.

Steve Smith

At 22 Steve Smith is just happy to be playing in a NHL game let alone the 1986 Western Conference Semifinal.  It game 7 and it’s tied up 2-2 in the final period and time is winding down.  It looked like its going into overtime until Steve decides to try to fire a pass all the way down the ring from behind his own goal.  Instead he somehow managed to hit his goalie in the back of the skate and the puck went into his own goal.
