6′0” a big muscular body, yet only 140 lbs, that is how they look. 6000 calories a day, a snack before practice at 4:30. 3 breakfast tacos (bacon, egg, and cheese) after practice, a double Decker PB&J for lunch. Another practice equals another snack. Then a huge dinner and maybe a snack at 9:00, that is what they eat. 2 practices a day 15000 yards which is about 9 miles plus a hardcore water polo practice, that is what they do.

Swimmers and Water Polo players are the best athletes in the world. Their season never stops and they use every muscle in their body on a daily basis. If they feel pain in the morning they will still get up and get ready for another session of hell.

People say that swimmers are weak, that they are sissies for not being in a contact sport. Well that is what water polo is for and swimming is still no picnic either.

People say that they could do my practices, I tell them to come and I guarantee that they will not get past warm up. They never showed up.

Everyone watched Michael Phelps’s gold rush. But few realize the true hard work and dedication that came with him standing over the blocks flexing is core. Few recognize the true beauty of such a spectacle.

We are swimmers. And we are proud to be. We stand higher then all other athletes, period.

I knew it that you would be a swimmer! I just didn’t want to ask but the clues sort of give it away. That is some amazing stuff about swimmers and yes, you should be proud of yourself. I used to swim loads but I’ve given it up now. Really good article and we must all be proud of the amazing swimmers we have on this planet!
