We Hate Manchester United: Should We?
Now I know we’re not all massive fans of Manchester United, ok we pretty much hate them but is it time to acknowledge what Sir Alex Ferguson has done and continues doing for British soccer?

As football fans we’ve all experienced that inner hatred when Manchester United score a goal, pass a ball or just enter the Stadium. There reams of superstars seem to relish opposing fans chants of torment which in turn angers us more toward them and the football club. Year after year they pick up silver wear and year after year our envious green is covered with the red of anger and hate. Nobody likes Manchester United, it’s something us football folk grow up on. We love our team, follow our boys and hate our neighbouring teams and of course the exception which is Manchester United.
If we take time out of our football soap boxes and ask ourselves why we hate this club so much, other than its fans of course, there’s not too many excuses left. The manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been the butt of so many chants of rage from visiting fans but I think it’s time, now this may hurt a little to type it, but I think its time to say well done Sir Alex….ouch.
Joking aside, what he has done at that football club is nothing short of remarkable and the way he has gone about it is commendable to British football. Each season I start to feel a bit more appreciation and admiration toward Ferguson and his work, I hope I’m not ill or anything.
Young home grown talent have emerged from the Theatre of Dreams each year including massive names such as Beckham, Giggs and Scholes. Ferguson seems to keep finding them and this season is no exception. Quality looking players like Gibson are coming through the ranks and it’s great for British football and its future. The way united play is magnificent too and that simple passing game is so easy on the eye which can only help the next generation in watching this total football.
So I’ve said it now, yes its Manchester United but what a job and what a team…….long may it continue?? Ok too far I’m sorry!!

Don’t you think that it’s a bit obvious that a team would only be ‘not hated’ by its own fans? I think the fact that you’ve written that: ‘we hate this club so much, other than its fans of course’ is quite silly because this counts for every team… I do agree with you for being impressed withh Sir Alex though..

wow, do people really hate us that much? I always thought this kind of hatrid is just among the Liverpool fans…
Nice article – it shows we really are the best.
The rivalry with Liverpool began during the 1960s, when both clubs were the best in England. Here is an interesting fact: the fixture is usually played at midday to discourage fans from drinking before the game! Ryan Giggs even said that “it is the most famous fixture in English football”. Liverpool has a total of 40 trophies and Manchester United of 32, and both clubs claim the title of ‘the Greatest English Football Club’. Unfortunately for Liverpool, only one team has it right.
Manchester City
The Manchester City rivalry dates back to the Newton Heath era of the 1890s. The game between the 2 teams is called the Manchester derby. United fans point out that City have gone awhile without winning a major trophy, whereas City fans claim United do not actually come from Manchester. The 2 teams have met 149 times, United have won 59 and City 41. …
So many ppl hatin UTD?? haha it jus showz wer da one nd only teeaam da best!!!!! UNITED 4 EVA!! C’mon… reddevlz
It’s natural for people to automatically dislike a club that’s consistently successful. It does get quite old and irritating after years and years of the same unoriginal jibes, but we should ultimately take it as a compliment.
By the way, can people please post comments that we English speakers can actually understand? For example:

I can hardly decipher what this all means. Seriously, you’re not sending a text message. Write in English we can read please. And do learn how do spell our Centre Back’s name properly. It’s NEMANJA.
