Carles Puyol is a very smart defender. He has saved his club FC Barcelona on countless occasions. His fast reaction time and quick thinking is a key to his clubs success. He is a great central defender and would be a excellent addition to any club.

Rio Ferdinand is currently one of the top defenders in the English Premier League. He is a very neat defender and has only made a few mistakes in his career. He is slow to react at times but his fast speed makes it hard for any strikers to score.

Lucio is a very great player. His strong on the ball and doesn’t go easy on strikers. He is very tough and appears to be in every defense position for Brazil. He is currently one of the best defenders in Brazil and also performs superbly for his club as well.

John Terry is one great player. He is involved everywhere on the pitch and never misses a chance to set up a great goal. Terry gets involved with the game, taking corners, penalties (at times) and even free kicks. He has saved his club Chelsea a countless number of times. He is a very high priced player and could well be the best defender in the world with some more training.

Nesta is a very good player who is always there in front of you when a opposing striker wants to score. He is very fast and never lets a striker push him arround. He gives outstanding long balls and through balls and has been known to take some great corners. He is, in my opinion, the best defender alive and would be my first pick for a dream team.
