Football trivia is a something that many people take an interest in, whether they are a real football fan or not. There are many many trivia questions that float about very often, I know, as I get asked them all the time when in the pub. Which team did…..? What player was……? How many times…..? the list goes on and on. Someboy once asked me to name every player who had ever competed at a World Cup and had at some point in their career played in Scotland. The more I thought about that, the more names I came up with. It was a very large number.
So what I have done above is narrowed the results down by asking a different question. If the question had been ‘How many players, while playing for a Scottish club, were picked for a World Cup finals squad?’ the number would be well over 100 due to the fact that it would include Scottish players. So I made the question ’Name all Non-scottish Players Included in World Cup Squads While Playing for a Scottish Club?’ and found that the answer had 34 answers. I tried the question out on some people. A few did ok, most struggled. But the problem was no-one could find the conclusive list written down anywhere, so it was decided to make it and that is what you see above.

That happens with a greek soccer player too. I don’t remember his name though!
Well done Alistair, I’m not a sports fan but your article was very well written and well presented
Interesting article.
I guess football fans will have a field day because of this trivia.. good share..
Great list, Alistair.
Just for a second, I thought this was a list of non-Scottish players who had somehow played for the Scottish World Cup squad!! Doh! Nice trivia fest
lol@Alina Beck, although interestingly there has been a few players who have played international football for Scotland even though they were born outwith the country. For example both Andy Goram and Stuart McCall were born in England but played for Scotland. Richard Gough was born in Sweden but still won 67 caps for Scotland
A researched list,well done.
whoa, this is awesome list.. ill check them out!
Bonkers post!!
Love it though – I’m a statto too
Could start a trend here – well done – revivor
