My Arsenal Heroes : Dennis Bergkamp

Anyone who have seen Dennis Bergkamp playing in Arsenal shirt will agree Dennis is one of the most influential players in the field when he plays. He is not renowned for his goal scoring but how he makes things happen. He lead the attacks by become the link between the midfielders, wingers and strikers. He sees thing that no one else can even imagine. Dennis Bergkamp have been my undisputed heroes.

Dennis Bergkamp start his footballing career at Ajax. A product of Ajax youth system, he eventually become a regular for Ajax at age of 17 making 14 appearances in his first season. He becomes a regular for Ajax the following season. He was call to represent the Dutch National team at 1990. At Ajax he managed to bagged 122 goals in 239 appearances.

At 1993, Dennis Bergkamp was signed by Inter Milan. Despite all his ability, his stint at Inter have been nightmares and it must been a good news for Arsenal. After 2 year of unhappy spell at Inter, which he only made 50 appearances scoring 11 goals, he then moved to Arsenal.

Arsenal has been a sanctuary for Bergkamp after hell at Inter. He made a total 423 appearances and scoring 120 goals. Dennis Bergkamp always been the heart of Arsenal fans and it is not surprising he voted second in the 50 Greatest Arsenal Players by the fans.

Bergkamp always known for scoring beautiful goals. It seems that he don’t know how to scores simple goals or easy goals. His trademark curler and chip make his goals so mesmerising. He seems to make difficult thing look easy. And to prove it he have topped the Greatest 50 Goals voted by the fans with his goal against Newcastle United in 2002. He also has 6 goals to his names in the Greatest 50 goals.

Bergkamp have entertained the Arsenal fans for 11 years. Whenever he steps on the pitch we can see his commitment in the game. He have become crowd favourites and to honour him, Arsenal supporters have dedicated the supporters day to Dennis Bergkamp Day.  Setting up one goal for Robert Pires and scoring one goal with his trademark curler, the day was made for Dennis Bergkamp. Another game to honour him was his testimonial match against Ajax which was the first games to be played at The Emirates, the new Arsenal stadium.

Bergkamp loves Arsenal and Arsenal loves him. Even after his retirement, he was close associate with Arsenal FC. There is only one Dennis Bergkamp and the game will miss him.
