Malmo FF: A Swedish Football Team

Malmö FF is one of the biggest and richest football team in Sweden. During the last 99 years Malmö FF have served great football to the people in the city of Malmö.

Malmö FF was born on the 24th of February 1910, celebrating 99 years this year 2009.
The name Malmö FF stands for Malmö Fotbollsförening” in swedish. Malmö which is their homecity and “Fotbollsförening” which mean “football local club” in english.
Malmö FF is often called MFF from the letters M in Malmö and FF from Fotbollsförening.
MFF if often associated as the sky-blue team becouse of their sky-blue and white logo and dresses.
Orginally the player dresses was red and white, but in 1920 this was changed to the todays dresses, the blue and white one. But the red and white dresses was not putten away totally. Today the serve as the away match dress.

In 1931 MFF made it up to Allsvenskan, the main football leauge in Sweden.
They won their first “SM-guld” in 1944. From then to now they have totally won “SM-guld” 15 times, most recently in 2004.

Recently MFF got a new stadium, called Swedbank Stadium (or Swedbank Stadion in swedish). It has a capacity of over 24 000 people. The cost to build the stadium was 580 million swedish crownes (aprox. 58 million GPB)
The grass is natural and not plastic.

The current coach is Ronald Nilsson. He came to Malmö FF in 2008.

The future for Malmö FF is looking very good. The economy is one of the best of the football teams in Sweden and recently many good new players have been bought. The new players and the new stadium could be a winning concept and the chance of winning “SM-guld” this year is looking very bright!
