Last night at Villa Park Craig Bellamy notched up his fourth Premier League goal of the season and is leading the charge of this fresh faced Manchester City team.
The new big names of Barry, Adebayor and Tevez have all contributed to this excellent start at Eastlands but it is the familiar face of Bellamy that has really taken the bull by the horns for Mark Hughes’ boys. Bellamy’s terrific double at Old Trafford 3 weeks ago was overshadowed by Michael Owens late winner but this time it was the Welsh international to play the goal scoring hero.
Mark Hughes seems to get the best out of the striker who has had spells at Norwich, Coventry, Blackburn, Liverpool and Newcastle before reuniting with his fellow countryman at Manchester City late last season. Hughes is now again reaping the rewards an in form Bellamy can bring to a team where many others have failed.
A number of Premier League bosses have fallen out with the controversial pint sized forward and have never been able to get the full exposure of his talents whilst controlling his temperament. Hughes however seems to always grind the best out of Bellamy, a feat he’s repeating after succeeding with him at Blackburn and at International level with Wales.
It’s another indication of the qualities Mark Hughes has as a Manager and also another factor to add to the argument of City breaking the top four this season. I think it’s more than fair to say that in Mark Hughes they have a manager that gives them the best possible chance to achieve these dreams.
