Have you ever wanted to be good at football or make people think you are good at it?
Keepy ups
Keepy ups or kick ups are a great way to impress your mates. They show you have skill.
This can take a lot of practice, but soon you will be able to do a good few.
Starting out
If you are just starting to learn how to do this skill, i recommend getting a special football attached to string or something in that manner.
If you don’t want this, just buy a full size football. It doesn’t have to be amazing, probably costs less than £10.
Also, some good shoes, astros are recommended.
If you want to be more skillful, follow this step below.
Flicking the Ball Up
Basically, the plan is to get the ball from the floor to about your waist height in 2 quick moves.
- Step 1 – Put your foot on the ball
- Step 2 – Pull back and get your shoe under the ball and flick up
Try to get the ball up to around waist height.
If you fail every time and just want to learn how to kick ups just pick the ball up, and drop it onto your foot, maybe with some back spin on it.
Doing the keepy ups
Do not worry if you do not succeed at first. It took me a few hours of practising to be able to manage a few when I first started trying years ago.
- Step 1 – try and kick the ball and keep it in front of you (not too hard), maybe letting it bounce once if you are on a bouncy surface and just starting out.
- Step 2 – Repeat kicking the ball. Try and try again, it won’t be long until you will be able to get a good number of kicks!
Headering the Ball
If done wrong, this can hurt quite a bit if the ball is traveling at a fast pace.
Basically try and header the ball on your fore head. Anywhere else is bound to hurt.
Kicking
- When you strike the ball, use your laces for more power. (e.g for penalties)
- For accurate passes and for free kicks, use the inside of your shoe.
- To spin the ball, use the outside of your shoe.
Practice these and you will have more skill than you did before.
