Only time will tell, but it appears from over here in England, that there has been an increase in interest since the arrival of English Star David Beckham.

David Beckham was a major star for Manchester United, who are one of the biggest clubs in English football. He enjoyed a successful spell at Manchester United, and then went on to pursue his career at Spanish club Real Madrid. After the World Cup in the summer of 2006, he resigned as England captain.
There may well have been an increase in the popularity of soccer, in the United States, as it seems that ticket and shirt sales have risen upon the arrival of David Beckham. Whether there has been an increase of children playing soccer, instead of American Football, I don’t know.
Over here in Europe we have the Champions’ League, which could be considered one of the best competitions in the world of soccer. David Beckham won this competition during his time at Manchester United, and he also won English Premier League titles.
There are American players in the Premier League, and American business people are purchasing sizable interests in English clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa.
It would be interesting to see some of the top U.S. teams taking on some of Europe’s best teams. One day, will the United States lift the soccer World Cup?
