Guardiola to Replace Wenger?

Arsenal is a football club in England which people have fallen in love with because of the revolution Arsene Wenger brought to the club. People then say Arsenal is the pride of London. Unfortunately, things are no longer the same there. Wenger has paid the price. We thank him. If the rumours that Pep Guardiola is coming it is still a good omen for us Arsenal fans.

As I opened my mail this morning, I saw in my inbox from newsfeed of Yahoo Sports this new which reads:

Guardiola to replace Wenger?

Not surprisingly Arsenal’s FA Cup defeat to Sunderland has got the papers talking and everyone is speculating as to what will happen next at the Emirates. The most sensational claim comes in the Mail on Sunday who reckons Wenger could be replaced by current Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola in the summer.  The papers says that: “Senior sources at Arsenal have indicated that plans are being discussed to move the Frenchman into the boardroom after another season of disappointment looks certain to condemn the club to missing out on a trophy for the seventh year running.”

Convincing Guardiola to leave the European Champions for a club struggling to even make the Champions League seems like it might be a tough ask for Arsenal but the Mail uses quotes from the man himself on Saturday night to try and build on their hypothesis. Guardiola has been working on a rolling contract for the last few seasons and would be a free agent in the summer and has yet to sign a deal to coach Barcelona next season.

“I can’t be at such a demanding club without being certain that I have the strength to do it,’ said Guardiola on Saturday night, in response to questions about a new contract. “I still don’t have it clear in mind. When I am sure then the club will know. To renew my contract, I have to feel it. We have been together for four years and the decision needs to be thought out thoroughly. “I feel that it is better to have a bit more time. If that is okay then fine, if not then too bad. I have to be true to myself.”

If indeed Arsenal wants Pep Guardiola to come to Arsenal, then they will have a lot to do.

1. They have to off load most of their unproductive players

2. They have to work hard to end among the four top teams in English Premiership

3. They should be will to spend money to buy young quality players who are viable.

4. They should give him the free hand to do what he did in Barcelona

5. Arsenal should develop a new mental attitude towards playing football. There should be that attitude that there are matches they cannot loose. For the past few years, Arsenal has not beaten Manchester United even when Championship side come to Old Trafford and triumph over them but not Arsenal. This has been their mentality. Arsenal should have that kind of mentality to start winning again.

Wenger has paid his dues in Arsenal and indeed the English Football. There is no doubt about that. We appreciate all your effort and will want you to bow out honourably before you are booted out. As Arsenal fan, I will be happy to see Pep Gaurdiola come to Emirate.

I don’t see why Pep would want to go to Arsenal. He spends a lot of money at Barca let’s not forget that.

He is thinking of new challenges. Arsenal has the money to spend only that Wenger had not been willing.
