Could a Move to Arsenal Be Exactly What Micah Richards Needs?
One transfer rumour that keeps poking its head out is that of Micah Richards joining Arsenal. True or not could this be an ideal move for Richards?

Once considered as one of the most promising prospects in English football, Micah Richards has gradually slipped off the radar. A year or so ago Manchester City wouldn’t have accepted less than £20 million for the player, but now it seems his fall from grace may see him landing the arms of a certain French manager for only £7 million. That’s if you believe the newspapers anyway. True or not, could a move to Arsenal be exactly what Micah needs?
As far as quality is concerned Micah has every potential to be a world beater. Not only this but as the most successful graduate from Simon Clifford’s increasingly famous ‘Brazilian Soccer Schools’, there is a good chance he could have some things in the locker that we are yet to see from an English footballer. Last season he seemed like a natural replacement for Gary Neville on the right of England’s defence, and had he not have lost his form I’m sure he would have pushed Wes Brown right out of the way.
To be fair to Man City it’s not a lack of first team starts that’s damaged his form, what seems to be the problem is a general lack of confidence. Confidence however is not an easy thing to regain when you know that your team could replace you at any time with almost any player in the world. Man City’s owners have given assurances that the youth development at Man City is still important, but how can it not be affected when they’re handing out (or at least trying to hand out) starting places to fantasy footballers who have already finished their development and are ready to go.
Then you look at Arsenal. Arsenal have developed, transformed and launched the careers of many a player. Arsene Wenger has already proven that he can take a poorly performing Juventus player and turn him into Henry, or a promising young prospect from Barcelona and turn him into Cesc Fàbregas. A mass buying of players is certainly not a problem at Arsenal and with a bit of guidance and form, Richards could defiantly give Sagna a run for his money. On top of that Arsenal’s style of skill, passing and pace could be ideal for a player brought up through a Brazilian Soccer School. They may well bring a better player out of him than anyone could ever have expected.
Richards has the talent, and Arsenal has the experience. So why not take a poorly performing yet promising young player and turn him into Micah Richards?
