City Will Fight to Live Another Day

So, goals from our very own Jamie McCombe, the on fire Michael Chopra and No.4 Gavin Rae, gave Cardiff City a very convincing win over our beloved Bristol City.  The fixture was played at The Cardiff City Stadium, Sunday 23rd August at 1.15pm and quite honestly, I could not wait until the 90+mins were over!  What an atrocious performance from my much loved football team.  And over the enemy too!

We (Bristol City), started off very sharp, with a few breaks from Danny Haynes and our top goalscorer, Nicky Maynard.  Who at times, looked like they were going to break the deadline early on.  But, in the end Cardiff Coty proved to be too strong for us on the day, attacking the goal left, right and centre.

It was however, us that broke the deadline, through an own goal from Jamie McCombe!  We seemed to have the answer minutes later, through Marvin Elliott, who unfortunately hit the post.  That almost definately would of changed the game.  But as the first half progressed, it became more clear that it was not going to be Bristol City’s day.  When on-form Michael Chopra found the back of the net once more.  This almost certainly putting the game to bed for the Blue birds just in the first half.

After the interval, City made a change, David Clarkson making way for John Akinde.  This proved not to make a difference to the team’s performance, nor Gary Johnson’s wise words in the dressing room.  As the minutes passed, I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole, as Cardiff City kept on battering the box and eventually broke through again, mid-way through the second half.  A goal by Gavin Rae wrapped up a win that could of easily been 5/6 nil.

Thus, had to undergo a very miserable coach ride back over the Severn Bridge and think how City will live to fight another day!
