Chelsea beat Bayern Munich to clinch the coveted UEFA TROPHY year 2012.

CHELSEA- UEFA CHAMPIONS YEAR 2012

Chelsea is now the Europe champions year 2012 after triumphing against Bayern Munich on penalty shoot outs. The game had been tied at 1-1 through normal and extra time leaving penalty shoot outs to determine the winner.

Bayern Munich dominated through the first half but still they could not score against a stubborn Chelsea defense. The score at half time was 0-0. The teams returned for second half looking stronger but the Bavarians (Bayern Munich) looked more dangerous. Around the eighty third minute Bayern scored the first goal of the match when Thomas Muller headed past Petr Czech to make it 1-0. However, the celebrations were short lived as Chelsea’ talisman Didier Drogba headed past Manuel Neuer from Malta’s corner kick at the eighty eighth minute to make the score level at 1-1.

Around the ninety fifth minute through extra time, Didier Drogba committed a foul against Frank Ribery in the box and a penalty was awarded to the Germans . Unfortunately, Arjen  Robben  saw the chance of making it 2-1 for Bayern denied after petr Czech saved his penalty comfortably.

The score remained at 1-1 through extra time leaving penalty shoot outs determine the winner.

Lahm, the Bayern captain, opened the scoring for Bayern Munich with a well taken penalty.  Malta saw his first penalty for Chelsea saved by the Bayern Munich’s goalkeeper Neuer.  This made it 1-0 for the Germans. Manuel Neuer  scored against his fellow goalkeeper, Czech and Mario Gomez also scored for Bayern Munich. However, Oric and Bastian Schweinsteiger saw their penalties saved and hitting the woodwork respectively. Chelsea’s David Silva, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Didier Drogba all scored to gift Chelsea the UEFA trophy. Chelsea worn 4-3 in penalty shoot outs.

It was not a good night for Tottenham, though.

    is Tottenham going to lose its high profile players to the fact that they are not in UEFA champions league next season? waiting to see……..
