The Robotic Skier

The robotic skier, was designed by a, Scientists name Bojan Nemec at the institute of Jozef Stefan in Ljubljana. This robot can ski down snowy slopes, with regular skies. It uses a pivoting motion; left to right and back again, just like a real skier does.

Still in the early, stages of development the robot skier, looks to be a promising, robotic automaton. Capable of skiing automatically, using a method called the carving technique. The robot skier can ski through gates and race, just like humans can.

The robotic skier is equipped with GPS and a camera. It uses the camera and GPS, along with the Laptop, to calculate the speed and trajectory. It also allows the robot, to plot out a route down a ski slope or track a course through race, gates.

This amazing robot was designed to, easily test, ski equipmentmore effectively and create the perfect model for future VR skiing. With the advent of robotic sports, the robotic skier, appears to be the perfect candidate for, robot ski races.

The skiing robot is still in development, it really is in it’s basic form, a laptop with legs. Bojan Nemec, is working to bulk up his skiing robot. After it lost control during a test, crashed and broke a good portion of its sophisticated parts. Future Development will include, shielding of crucial parts, and a more robust, overall robot, that can better withstand the elements.
