Skateboarding 2: The Ollie – Part Two
This areal skate trick is a requirment for any skater being the principle trick to learn almost all street tricks, flatland tricks and helps get airborne from a ramp. Learning the ollie will take yo several steps closer to mastering tricks like the kickflip, heelflip and pop-shuvit. note: I will explain this in goofy (right foot in front and left foot kicking foot) so if you ride regular switch the rights with their lefts.

How to do an Ollie
Instructions
start by learning this trick stationary before adding speed (some people find it easier starting by rolling) note i will be explaining this trick in goofy.
- Start by standing with your right foot about 5-10cm (2-4 inches) from the front bolts of the board. And the ball of you foot should be positioned on the tail with the out side (left side) of your your (left) foot should be right next to the edge/end of the board. Your toes should be on the edge of the board but not hanging off your heels can hang off.
- Practice pushing down with your left foot really quickly so you feel the tail smack against the ground. This is called popping, its the initial motion of the trick.
- When you “pop” you will notice that the harder you pop the more the board will “jump” into the air. When you kick the tail into the ground it will bounce back up.
- When you pop you must jump up into the air and let the board follow up with you. You must level out the board by sliding you right foot up the board this will not only level the board out but pull it higher up.
- Continue bending your legs and the board will follow up with you. As you start descending stretch out your legs and once you touch down bend your knees to soften the landing.
- keep practicing until you have it clean. Then move onto do it moving. Then try doing it off ledges or stairs and use it when skating. REMEMBER! stay safe and have fun.
