Skateboarding is a very challenging sport and involves a lot of determination. When you start you have to find out whether you are “goofy” or “regular”, which is your stance on the skateboard. “Goofy” means that your right foot is up the front of the skateboard, and you are pushing of the ground with your left foot. “Regular” is the complete opposite, so your left foot is up the front and your right is at the back, pushing of the ground.
It doesn’t matter what one suits you e.g if you are best at goofy stay with goofy, just because the other stance is “regular” you should not feel intimidated that most people are the regular stance, the legend tony hawk skates goofy. Ok so once you have your stance sorted, you are going to learn how to ride your skateboard (push off). Place your front foot 2 inches behind the front bolts (if it doesn’t feel right move your front foot on top of the front bolts).
Now you are going to push of with your back foot and place it just behind the back bolts (tail). Start off with light pushes, once you get the hang of it try pushing a little harder and even more pushes. Remember skateboarding is a hard sport and will take time.
