Usain Bolt: World Record Wonder

Usain Bolt is beating world records everywhere. Is any record safe from his insane speed?

Lighting Bolt, Usain Bolt.  They probably could be considered as synonyms.  ”Bolt” indeed is an apt last name for the track and field superstar, he might as well have been named lighting bolt.  After demolishing three World Records at the Beijing olympics, the first man ever to do it in Olympic history in a single year, Bolt is at it again by running the 100 meter dash in a blinding 9.58 seconds at the recent Berlin World Championships this August, the fastest the world has ever seen.  The scary thing about it is that he seems to be winning every race with ease, there must be more speed left in those long and strong legs.  In fact, at the Beijing Olympics, it was seen that he virtually slowed near the finish line to celebrate his victory in advance.  The possibility of him clocking 9.52 seconds was already there when he won that race.  Taking this into consideration, it is not surprising that he is unbeaten in the 100 meters in his entire professional career.

Bolt seems to have started with various sports from cricket to soccer, but it was not until later in life that he was introduced to athletics.  At 6 feet 5 inches, he is an imposing figure, and an athletic specimen whose potential has been unlocked and unleashed.  In his earlier competitions he did not take his sprinting that seriously, but in the later years, especially when he turned professional, that has changed, and the results that he is getting speak for themselves.

Athletics now has a superstar, a torch bearer if you may for this century.  If golf has Tiger Woods, boxing has Manny Pacquiao, billiards has Efren “Bata” Reyes, basketball had Michael Jordan, then watch out world because Usain Bolt has clearly made his presence felt.  He is the man to beat, and definitely a man to look up to.  In the coming years and competitions, he will be probably breaking his own records in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters, since he seems to be winning them all in the first place.
