Rugby vs.. Football

This has been one of the most conflicted sport arguements. WHICH ONE IS BETTER? RUGBY OR FOOTBALL? Well, I’ll put in my opinion.

Rugby and football are two different sports. But, they have such a huge amount of similarities that people keep comparing them with each other. Usually, the people backing up football are Americans, and the people who back up rugby are… well… the men and women of the rest of the world. (I’m pretty sure the odds are ten to one) The Americans have stood up to their sport, arguing that their sport is better. But, relatively, they usually can’t get their words across, due to the enormous world-wide popularity of rugby. I, myself, is a fan of rugby. But, although I have a Caucasian background, I am actually Singaporean. So, my blood is Whasian, but I’m an American! (Whoa.) I also watch football, and I enjoy the strategy behind it. I also enjoy the fast paced action of rugby, and the hard hits and brawling it offers. But, people often yell at each other that one or another is better! (Usually Youtube.) So, I give you the facts. You decide what is better.

Rugby men are harder hitters, and have a higher athletic ability! It seems hard to believe, but rugby’s sport requires you to sprint at least 4 miles a game! (If you are an important player) They also juke better, run faster, and tackle better, but that doesn’t mean they are better! Football players have relatively a higher amount of thinking going on. They also throw much much better than rugby players. I also think that football players’ punt is better too.

Some people usually think that rugby is a more manly game. But, this is what I say. Football is the gentleman’s game. Rugby is the warrior’s game. Enough said. But, football people are not always that gentle. They have their shares of flying men, earth shattering blows, and broken bones. But rugby has more, just because they don’t spend much time thinking. They do action. Football spends a quarter of their time thinking on how to do the play, and they do it. Its like turn-based strategy. Rugby is real-time action.

Football players spend less time in the ER than rugby players. That’s because of their protection. Rugby players wear almost nothing to protect themselves. That’s why I say rugby is the warriors game. That means more bloody noses, more broken bones, and more deaths. But, deaths happen VERY rarely in both games. Rugby, a little more.

That’s all for today, and I hope that cleared up some stuff. But, comparing rugby and football is like comparing track and field running to the marathon.
