Why Rally is The King of Racing
This article will attempt to outline why I believe Rally is the greatest form of motor sport that there is.

For me, Rally is by far the best form of motor sport there is, and for once I can actually put my finger on what is great about it. Firstly, the greatest thing about Rally is that it requires true skill. Most motor sport is fairly easy in comparison. Granted, racing such as F1 and Touring Cars still requires huge amounts of skill, precision and nerve, but when you compare that to what you need to be a good Rally driver, it’s like comparing the jobs of a toilet cleaner and a Managing Director of a multi-national company. Comparatively, F1 and Touring Cars are just processional.
Put simply, you need to be insane to become a Rally driver. No doubt about it, one slip and you can wrap your car around a tree or fall off of a 500 meter high ledge. In other racing, the worst that can happen is that you might hit another car or park it into a tire wall. The fact that there is so much danger is a large part of the appeal for me. Even watching it can give you a huge adrenalin rush, which is what makes me watch it.
The other huge attraction of Rallying for me is the scenery. I’ve always been partial to a nice view, and mixing a view with some very fast cars right on the edge of grip, is just a spectacular combination. The picture above demonstrates this really, Rallying takes you through some of the world’s nicest countryside, and it’s a real eye-opener.
One last thing that is enticing about the sport is the wonderful power sliding that occurs. All men into racing love a good power slide, and WRC is just the ultimate racing type for it.
