This is a follow up on the whole Mayfield suspension problem that rocked the NASCAR world. In the wake of it word comes down from Mayfield Motorsports that they have found a driver. JJ Yeley now they need to find an owner for record he will start driving in the Sprint All Star Race in Charlotte.

What helps is that Yeley can run every race so they don’t have to change drivers. Crew chief for the number 41 was quoted to saying “we believe in JJ’s talent he’s got something to prove like we all do.” What helpes is that this is a one car team so he won’t be over shadowed by a team mate like the other bigger budget teams have that problem.

Yeley, 32 came into NASCAR starting in the Busch Series (now Nationwide Series) running for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2004 and 2005 than moved up to the Nextel Cup Series (now Sprint Cup Series) in 2006 to take over driving duties of the number 18 after Bobby Labonte moved over to the number 43 car at Petty Enterprise (now Petty Motorsports). He had a career best finish of second in the 2007 Coca Cola 600 his only pole came in June at Michigan International Speedway that same year. Last year he ran for Hall of Fame Racing until he lost the ride after the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500.

I think that they made the right pick for the driver Yeley has the talent all he needs is the right team to prove he can run good. I believe that he will be able to help that team and their struggles that they’re having trying to say in the top 35 in owner points so that they can make every race and don’t have to qulify their way in.
