Jeff Gordon driver of the number twenty four dupont/AARP Drive to end Hunger Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports is the third winningest driver in what is now the Sprint Cup Series. Jeff Gordon’s win in the rain shortened Pennslyvania 400 in August of 2012 was his 86th carreer race victory.

This is the most of any driver in the modern era which is between 1973 and the present.

Gordon was welcomed to the sport with a less than stellar performance in his first race in 1992 which was also Richard Petty’s final race.

In his first full time season Jeff did not win any races but won the Raybestos rookie of the year of Bobby Labonte.

In 1994 Jeff Gordon earned his nickname wonder boy by winning his first race at the Coca Cola 600 in Charlotte. And his second race at the very first stock car race at the Indianapolis Motorspeedway.

In 1994 Dale Earnhardt won his seventh and final championship. The next year in 995 Gordon won his first of four.

Gordon has 3 Daytona 500 wins. 4 wins at Indianapolis and was the second driver after Bill Elliot to win the Winston Million.
