Paintball: Do You Like to Play Dirty?

Many argue the fact that paintball is a simulation of war, and that it is not something to be “played”. But really unless you have actually played, you wouldn’t know how fun the SPORT actually is.

Yes, i did say sport. Paintball is a sport. Maybe not an olympic sport, but there are tournaments, teams (even jerseys) and fields all out there just like any other sport like hockey or soccer. Paintball is growing more and more globally, and is becoming more recognized by adults and teens.

Scenario Paintball (also Woodsball)

This is probably the more “war-like” games, even though it isn’t actually war, and is just a way to enjoy yourself. There are a wide variety of Scenario games which usually conisist of the following : Capture the Flag, Search and Destroy, Team Elimination, Etc. There are many paintball guns that even look similar to real-world guns, so you should becareful who you decide to show them to. Depending on where you decide to go, you can either play in a forest, or in a building built to replicate an actual war scene. Even if you cant afford your own equipment, or don’t plan on making it a regular thing, most paintball fields do offer rentals. This is the more war-based game for paintball, but it does bring out some talents you never knew were in you.

Tactics & Strategy – Eventually when you get the hang of the sport, you start thinking of how do play smarter and become better
Teamwork – This shows without you even knowing it. The way you communicate to your team mates all around you helps make your team stronger and more aware.

Speedball

Speedball is the second game type of paintball, the more tournament based. Speedball fields are usually covered with Air-filled bunkers that come in different shapes and sizes. Just like pretty much any other sport, there are teams, and each team is placed in a division (based on age for lower levels, and experience for higher levels), and each division has its own tournament and so on. Teams can get sponsorships from paintball companies and gun companies to get discounts on items they may need. Games in speedball are usually just basic team elimination, with each team have 3, 5, or 7 players. The game requires  constant communication between your team mates to allow them to know what is going on across the field from where they are.

To say paintball isn’t a sport, is a lie. It fills you with adrennaline and excitement the moment you step on the field right to the moment you step off. Guns can be bought for pretty cheap and if not, you always have rentals. So what are you still doing here? Go out and have fun.
