BMW S 1000RR Superbike

BMW Motorrad Motorsport FIM Superbike World Championship team, with riders Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus

The team is now in its second season in the championship, recording 17 top-ten finishes in 2009, its debut season in the Superbike World Championship.

“I definitely want to win another World Championship before the end of my career. The next step along the road to achieving that goal is to collect as many top-five finishes as possible this season. You can sense the determination of BMW Motorrad to climb the ladder,” Troy Corser said at the ceremony.

“I’m very happy to be competing as part of such a strong works team and to be playing my part in this project from the ground up,” Xaus said. “We are looking to take the next step in 2010 to ensure that our goals become reality in the not too distant future.”

As we said in a previous report, a new addition to the team is Davide Tardozzi, the former Ducati Xerox Superbike team manager. The Italian will head up team management and operational control at the race tracks. Rainer Baumel will continue as Head of Overall Project Management and Project Management Engineering.

Yoshimura and Suzuki hold a special relationship, with the aftermarket tuning firm working closely with the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer’s engineers and racing team to develop racing solutions for Suzuki motorcycles. Occasionally that relationship gets extended further, and brings us limited edition production runs of Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R’s.

Yoshimura R&D of America is offering a number of 2011 and 2012 Suzuki GSX-R600s, GSX-R750s and GSX-R1000s equipped with a host of upgrades.

Each individually numbered GSX-R comes equipped with EPA- and CARB-compliant Yoshimura R-77 carbon fiber slip-ons and a number of aluminum CNC machined components.

The Yoshimura Limited Edition GSX-R models also come with fender eliminator kits for track use or display purposes only as they are not DOT approved.

The limited edition models also feature special paint schemes in either red or blue. The blue scheme will be applied to bikes with blue frames while models with black frames will get the red treatment.
