UFC on Fox with Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos

The commencement of the long awaited event will finally be leading the charge on Fox on November 12 th at Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Cain Velasquez, the UFC heavyweight champion will meet his top contender Junior Dos Santos in the main event of UFC 139. The fight will mark the first Fox broadcast network televised UFC card. This is the first live UFC fight on broadcast TV ever.

Competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship is Junior dos Santos, a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist under Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, a former UFC and Pride Heavyweight Champion. Dos Santos states that Antonio Rodrigo Noguera is his hero. He is currently ranked as the #2 heavyweight fighter in the world by FightMagazine.com, MMAfighting.com, MMAWeekly and Sherdog.com.

During his early days as a fighter, Santos fought in the Bahia State Jiu-Jitsu Championship and Bahia State Submission Championship and won. Moreover, he fought in Extreme Fighting Championship, Demo Fight, Mo Team League and Minotauro Fights, where he created a record of 6 wins, and acquired his only lost in his career against Joaquim Ferreira. On October 25 , 2008 , he made his debut in the UFC at UFC 90 and fought Fabricio Werdum.

After his fight against Werdum, Santos fought Stefan Struve, Mirko Filipovic, Gilbert Yvel, Gabriel Gonzaga, Roy Nelson, and Shane Carwin. Cain Velasquez on the other hand is an undefeated mixed martial artist born on July 28 , 1982 . He is the first Mexican American Heavyweight Champion of any Combat Sport. He is the current UFC heavyweight Champion. Before turning pro in MMA last 2006 , Cain Velasquez was a former Division I All-American wrestler. His MMA record is 9-0 . During his previous fights, he knocked out 8 of his 9 opponents in the 1st or 2nd round.

This includes the former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, which was knocked out on the 1st round during the fight that made him the UFC Heavyweight Champion.Cain Velasquez is ranked by NBC Sports, ESPN and Sherdog as the #1 heavyweight fighter in the world, he currently holds a brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu under Dave Camarillo. Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos at the Top of their Game Though the Velasquez – Dos Santos fight was ironed out several months earlier, an injury of the champion delayed the fight. According to Fox executive Eric Shanks the live fight of Velasquez and Dos Santos be a short one, because of the knockout power of each fighter. Because of this, they are planning to air other longer fights before the Velasquez – Dos Santos bout.
