Roundhouse kick is the most widely used kick for most any sparring situation. Roundhouse kick is mainly used for head and gut attacks.

Performing the Kick:

  1. Start in kicking stance (Kicking stance is where you point one of your shoulders and your front at your target. Your back leg should be at a 90 degree angle from the front one).
  2. Bring up your knee, twist your hips to the leg opposite your lifted knee, and twist your remaining foot on the ground away from your elevated leg.
  3. Lean back, and snap your elevated leg straight out in front of you (you can contact your target with the pad of your foot, or at your ankle).
  4. After the kick, make sure that you bring your leg back to the 90 degree angle just as how you stated.
