Roundhouse kick is the most widely used kick for most any sparring situation. Roundhouse kick is mainly used for head and gut attacks.
Performing the Kick:
- Start in kicking stance (Kicking stance is where you point one of your shoulders and your front at your target. Your back leg should be at a 90 degree angle from the front one).
- Bring up your knee, twist your hips to the leg opposite your lifted knee, and twist your remaining foot on the ground away from your elevated leg.
- Lean back, and snap your elevated leg straight out in front of you (you can contact your target with the pad of your foot, or at your ankle).
- After the kick, make sure that you bring your leg back to the 90 degree angle just as how you stated.
