UFC announced today that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira must Pull out of his fight against up and coming Cane Velasquez due to an injury to his left elbow and now has severe staph infection. The staph infection is in to his bloodstream now and will probably have to be hospitalized and given antibiotics. Velasquez will likely be shifted to a future card.
This gives former light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva a spot in the lime light. Both are trying to bounce back from a loss, Evans is coming off his first loss in his five year career by way of Lyoto Machida, and Silva is coming off his only loss which also came from an undefeated Machida.
This match up has been rumored to be a main event for a while and they now have the chance to bang it out on the big screen.
