Nowadays, hunting is a world-wide practice.  People view hunting in different ways.  Some may say that hunting is a good practice while others think that that to hunt animals is a sin.  But I personally think that hunting has both good and bad aspects.

People kill animals basically for their meat.  Venison, flesh of birds like pigeons among others is highly appreciated by everyone.  Thus, hunting is a way of obtaining food as well as earning money.

Also, hunting is practised to remove the skins of furry animals and to sell it at an experience price on the market.  With the skins of leopards, seals, crocodiles, people are today making out of them belts, rugs, handbags and also coats.  They do not realise that animals are being killed in large numbers for that.  The fact that in previous years, when man had not yet found artificial fibres to make clothes, used the skin of mammoths and other creatures as cloth can be accepted.  But now hunters, only to get the skin of an otter clean, without any trace of a knife or bullet, beat it to death.

Today, to decorate houses, bare walls and space left, people find it a fashion to hang straw-mulched head or even the entire body of a dead animal.  The head of a deer, lion’s skin ran at times be times be seen making the splendour of a house.  In the jewellery industry as well, hunting has a role to play.  Elephants are hunted for their ivory tusks, used either in the making of talisman or in other jewel carving.  They ignore the elephant’s last long trumpet before giving up life.

This not only helps in the decrease of animal species but also de-balances the natural life.  In the past, only hares and birds were the most common preys of hunters but today, with the evolution of technology, hunters have more sophisticated, modern weapons to kill animals for the benefit.  Traps, poison and other methods are used to catch innocent creatures.  The range of preys has extended greatly; from land to sky, from sky to sea.  This is why the fate of many animal species such as the quagga, the moa, the passenger pigeons, the Stellar’s sea cow are now sealed as that of the Dodo – extinct.  And many of other animals are in danger of disappearing forever from earth.

I agree that hunting must be practised but up to a certain limit.  For example, people can go hunting as a sport.  To breathe in fresh air, do exercise is beneficial to the health.  But there are people who hunt for pleasure, in excess which is certainly not an idea of limiting ourselves.  Hunting must be done to get rid of certain diseases spread by animals, to eliminate man-eaters and to keep the balance of life.
