Hunting

Hunting, is it a sport or a crime? Is it what all of us want? Or is it an inhumane thing.

Sport or Crime?

I believe that hunting is more of a crime than a sport. The idea of sporting it, to me is wrong. Animals have just as much rights as a human does. Now I can understand hunting to survive because people do need animals for food or warmth. Now placing an animals head in your trophy room for a showcase is inhumane. People do this as a sport, now do you get excessive from it? Maybe from walking around carrying a gun. That is so much work, so straining on your body. Do you sweat from the activity in this sport? I don’t think you do but who knows your might be overly sweaty. I think I will do a pros and cons list for hunting and really let you judge it for yourself.

Some pros for this sport would be for warmth. I see that as a survival method instead of a cruelty method. I see people using animals for food. Now with that I believe that people that use animals for food preserve what they kill. They don’t let a single piece of that animal go to waste. We eat animals everyday and that to me is alright for nutrition. We use them to the fullest we can.

Some cons for this sport would be the poachers that test their testosterone for how many birds they shot out of the sky. Or how may skin hides they achieved. The endangered species being shot or used as trophies just for the pure satisfaction of hunting something special. The waste of the kill, not using the meat to feed a family or clothe children.

I once watched a documentary on the slaughter of animals and it made me think to myself, would we want someone coming into our homes and killing our pet dogs, or cats, or even birds? Probably not, so what makes it ok for the ones that live in the forests, or in the fields? This will boggle my mind till the day I die. We see the endangered animals on special programs and we see how few of them there are, and yet we still allow hunting for the wrong reasons. I hope one day we will all see this as a problem and change it. Until then I just wanted to voice an opinion about this topic. This once again is Kaitlind Says.

For the most part, in the non-hunters mind, a hunter is a crass, beer-swilling, gun-toting redneck that’s nothing more than a wanton killer, detriment & menace to society.
They are seldom seen as the environmental watchdogs or the ones that foot the bill for giving game and non-game species alike the food & protection from human infringement. Those that chastise hunters for their actions are generally the last ones to help by setting aside lands for wildlife as refuges. The monies used for these and many other projects are generated by hunting & conservation groups and the sale of licenses & permits, not to mention a %10 charge added to the products that hunters & fishermen buy. Which is %100 more than when someone buys makeup, a bottle of wine or a seedy tabloid. In a non-hunters mind, a hunter is thought of, which is more than one can say of the person in charge of driving a hydraulic piston through a cattle skull, slitting a hogs throat or beheading chickens. Those animals didn’t commit suicide in front of the local McDonalds, the supermarket or the corner bistro. Hunters also act to keep populations in check. From what I’ve seen 1sthand, anti-hunting activists just adore wildlife until their azaleas are eaten.

In retrospect, let me also state that I commend you for the way you presented your opinions, and the thought and rationality of your statements. As a hunter, we are generally put on the defensive very early in the discussion. I can assure you that I, and the others hunters I affiliate myself with are folks that you would want to have nearby when a crime is being committed, and certainly not criminals.

Hunting should stop unless it is for survival. otherwisly it should be banned.

I believe that hunting is wrong yet I have to go with the side that it is perfectly acceptable due to the fact I can support the idea that it is fine far better than I can support the idea that it shouldn’t be aloud. Although you did bring up some good points though.

Look, I am a hunter, but I am also a conservationist. All of you who have left comments like Dee who said we’re killers are just misinformed and hateful. Almsot all antihunters have it set in their minds that we are, as Frank said, a redneck yahoo who’ll shoot everything. This is not so. For all of you antihunters I ask you this do you know how much time during the hunt is actually spent killing? The answer is about 3 seconds. So what you have been saying is false. We don’t just sit there and shoot all day, we spend weeks just finding the game, than days trying to get the shot. The people you all are accustomed to seeing in the news are the people who give us hunters a bad name, because when you hunt ethically no one wants to hear about that, they want to hear about the minority screw ups. I’m sorry I can’t say that you are even slightly knowledgable of what hunting is. I support people with differing opinions, for instance ,my sister is vegetarian, but just because someone doesn’t agree with you doesn’t make it alright to hate them. If you want to hate someone then either get the actual facts, or try it yourself. I tried vegetarianism for a week to see if my disdain for it was valid, and I found it was, for me. So please Stop with the hate.
