After many generation of people playing hockey, there was always rivalry, disagreement, and even fighting. Recently, the NHL has tried to ban fighting and thought whether or not it should still be allowed. Here is a general idea of things to consider when you either want to keep or ban fighting from the ‘good old’ hockey game.

Banning Fighting:

  • There will be less injuries and players will generally play the complete season and post-season without and problems
  • No more complications between teams during a game (e.g. delaying the game)
  • Less penalties and crucial players will be on the ice when needed
  • A factor that coaches and players no longer have to worry about
  • Speeds up the game

Keeping Fighting:

  • When needed, the enforcers will have to try to change momentum
  • Helps and excites players and fans
  • More rivalries begin and heats up the game
  • Fun to watch (for all you violent people)
  • A tradition that many wishes to keep
