The Rangers have started off the season very nicely already winning a cup, not quite the Stanley Cup but the Victoria Cup in Switzerland. The Rangers went a perfect 2-0. They won the first game 8-1 against SC Bern. However, this score seems a lot worse then it was. They did not break it open until half way through the third period. Then the second game against Metallurg Magnitogorsk was a scare almost two periods as the Rangers trailed 3-0 late in the second. They wound up rallying behind fourth liner Ryan Callahan as he scored the game winning goal with 20 seconds left on a breakaway as he was falling over the goalie. The Rangers were awarded a $1,000,000 bonus for winning the Victoria Cup. The NHL and the International Hockey Federation are planning on making the Victoria Cup an annual event in an attempt to spread the game around the world.
