The Kingston Frontenacs have been in the Ontario Hockey League since the start of the 1973-74 season. Kingston currently plays in the East Division, of the Eastern Conference, of the twenty team league. Former NHL star, Doug Gilmour stands behind the player bench as Kingston’s head coach. The team plays out of the new K-Rock Centre in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

A. Originally, the Kingston franchise was dubbed the Canadians when they entered the league in 1973-74. The team was sold after the 1987-88 season and the new owner renamed the Raiders. The name would only last for one season before the team was sold again and renamed the Frontenacs.
Q. What player holds the Frontenacs record for most goals and points in a single season?
A. Bernie Nicholls scored 63 goals and totalled 152 points during the 1980-81 season. Nicholls went on to a decent NHL career that lasted from 1981 to 1999. Nicholls played for the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks. The highlight of his NHL career was 1988-89 when he finished fourth in the league with 150 points and second in the league with 70 goals.
Q. How many regular season division titles have the Frontenacs won since 1973-74?
A. The Frontenacs have won just one division title. In 1994-95, the Frontenacs edged out the Oshawa Generals by just two points to finish first in the East Division.
Q. What Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman began his OHL career with the Kingston Canadians in 1977-78?
A. Paul Coffey played just eight games with the Canadians that season. He played the next season with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and split his final season in the OHL with the Greyhounds and the Kitchener Rangers. Coffey still holds the record for most goals during a single regular season by an NHL season with 48 in 1985-86. Paul was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004 after a long and illustrious NHL career with the Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Detroit Red Wings, Hartford Whalers, Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Black Hawks, Carolina Hurricanes and Boston Bruins.
